The hottest thing in Ghanaian music circles these days, Shatta Wale, has said that he would probably not attend the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) show because he’s got some international shows lined up around the same time the VGMA is scheduled to be held.
“We all know how sometimes these awards shows can be funny,” he declared on Ekwanso Dwodwo, hosted by Abeiku Santana on Okay FM.
According to Shatta Wale, it would be better for him to play shows and make money than to attend an award show that potentially would not benefit him in any way.
“I’ve got some shows to play in London and some other places so I don’t think I can attend the music awards show,” he stated.
This comes on the back of his losing the Best Dancehall Song award to Kaakie last year at the VGMAs. The “diss” song to Charter House he released soon after shot him into the limelight and he hasn’t looked back since.
But only last December, he apologized to Charter House, organizers of the annual music awards show at the Ghana Rocks 2013 concert, which several music critics subsequently denounced as only a publicity gimmick designed to win him favour from the award organizers.
We can only wait to see if Shatta would stand by his words .
